Hello fellow sleuths! I'm quite shocked that I'm writing a post for the second day in a row, but here we are! Now on to the news at 10... Nancy Drew fan ChazVsJazz has just discovered a new development regarding the trademark Mystery of the Seven Keys that HeR filed back in November 2021! I just made a video discussing this: What do you think of this development? Is this news enough to warrant confirmation of a new game, or are you still keeping expectations low? Let me know your thoughts!
That about wraps up today's post. Until next time, detectives! Huw

Hey Haley! I completely agree. Based on how much time they had for MID, I'm not optimistic about how well the new title will turn out, assuming it releases next year. We shall just have to wait and see!

Not sure if or when it’ll happen; there’s been rumors of bankruptcy, plus all new workers, and outsourcing. I counted all the companies at the end credits of MID and it was ridiculous! They took way too long to release MID and left us in the dark, now they’ve done it again, with no news, updates, or even confirmation of a new game, and they always tiptoe around the subject when you ask; lord knows it’ll take longer for them to release a game this time. 🤦♀️

Hey Sarah! The rumors of bankruptcy have been floating around for several years now, but I don't personally believe there is any worry of them going under just yet. They have indeed brought on new workers, pretty much all of them in the marketing department. The idea of outsourcing was discussed around the time of the layoffs in 2015 and the companies they outsourced to ended up outsourcing to other companies. Their public communication strategy is a drastic change from what it used to be, and I know for a fact there are still several people that aren't used to it. HeR has gone down a very corporate route and the fans most likely won't adapt to it for a long time, if ever. I appreciate your comment, and I really wish they would say something! I've got my fingers crossed that they say something, anything, even if they're announcing bankruptcy. That way, we at least know.

I speculate about their financial situation as well. I recall seeing what the business was valued at YEARS ago (probably around the time I quit modding) and I haven't seen it since. I can't help but wonder how it is that they manage to stay afloat. Their products are not expensive (so they aren't making a lot of money through sales), and I imagine they don't sell as many games now as they once did (because the old fans already own the games and there aren't many (or any) new fans because who actually knows this company exists, given their lack of game releases the past few years). And I was surprised when they brought on the new intern (or whomever it was) recently, because how do they pay this person when they aren't making anything? It all boggles my mind.

Hey Haley! I'm personally inclined to disagree. Their marketing strategies (as painful as I've found so many of them) have indeed been working. I follow the ND subReddit and see so many new players on there! I also look at streamers such as Gab Smolders and HalfMoonJoe and with the amount of viewers they get, I find it hard to believe that they aren't bringing in new players. For instance, Gab Smolders' most recent Nancy Drew video (posted 6 days ago) has over 85000 views on YouTube. I know that tons of people love the games, but I am curious how many of those viewers already own the games, how many go and buy the games because of the videos, and how many just watch the streams. On top of that, their merchandise has been selling really well, too! I feel like I'm always seeing people posting about their new ND merch they've just received! Anyways, I personally believe that they are afloat due to several factors, but it's difficult to know what their sales numbers actually are without getting a job at the company. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
