From Game to Film
Hello fellow sleuths! Have you ever wondered what a Nancy Drew game would be like if it were made into a movie?
Last night, I was watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. When I got to the werewolf scene, I immediately started thinking of Curse of Blackmoor Manor. When the game starts, Nancy arrives after Linda's "transformation" has begun. I wondered what it was like when Linda discovered the curse and started acting differently.
For those that don't know, I studied motion picture arts at university for 2 years. I learned about the whole film process as well as how to write scripts. Since I had the required skills (and tools), and with my creative juices flowing full force, I decided to start writing a script as a prologue to the acclaimed eleventh Nancy Drew game. Here's a brief excerpt from page 3 when Linda begins exploring the passage.
If you've never played Curse of Blackmoor Manor before, I highly recommend it! Everything in my script lines up with the narrative of the game. The script will end right before they call in Nancy to come investigate, so that means you could watch this film (if it ever gets made) then begin playing the game without missing a beat!
I then got on to the thought of casting. If I were able to cast whichever celebrities I wanted, I think I've got the perfect cast.
My dream would be to get this short film made with these actors, but based on time and budget stuff, I know that it'll probably never happen. It's still fun to write! Have you ever written a script, or even a Nancy Drew fan fiction?
That'll do it for this post, I hope you enjoyed! I'll see you later!
