Hello fellow sleuths! Today, I tried recording the walkthrough for Nancy Drew: Codes and Clues. Unfortunately, I ran into a... major problem. I had the walkthrough written, the video and audio recording, and then I went to open the game. It opened as normal, then after 5 seconds, it just crashed. And so I tried again. And it crashed again. And again. And all the while, I just sat there staring at the screen in disbelief.
I was devastated. Now, I'm sure some of you are wondering why I felt this way. Well, to put it simply, the game is nearly 7 years old. And in many cases, mobile devices advance quicker than smaller game devs can keep updating the game for modern operating systems. I had the sick feeling that CNC had finally reached the time where it was simply incompatible with the newest iOS update before I had recorded the walkthrough. I must have restarted my iPad about 3 times, installed and re-installed the game nearly twice that amount, and performed an iPad backup to my computer. I also opened and closed the game way too many times. We were going out for the evening, so I thought "Maybe I'll just turn the iPad off while I'm out and see if anything changes when we get back." And you know what? THE GAME ACTUALLY OPENED. I couldn't believe my luck. Unfortunately, it's a bit too late to be recording walkthroughs so I'll just do it tomorrow. But yeah! That's my little story for today. On a side note, I've started to do a little bit of a branding refresh for NDW. A few changes have been implemented today, so keep your eye out for more! That about wraps up today's post. Until next time, detectives! Huw
