Fun Facts:
  • This game was originally set to be ported for a DVD release just like Curse of Blackmoor Manor, but like The Haunted Carousel, it never happened.
  • There are multiple 13's hidden around the cover art.
  • Charleena Purcell (introduced in The Secret of Shadow Ranch) makes a physical appearance as a suspect in this game.
  • This game introduced Tino Balducci, a big-time police detective invited to come help find out what happened to Jake Hurley. He later returns in The White Wolf of Icicle Creek as a phone character.
  • This was the final game to use the same Nancy Drew logo, box art, and difficulty selection screen as the past several games. Danger by Design brought a whole refresh to the series.
  • This is the first game to introduce the Hardy Boys as physical characters that you can interact with. Later in the game, you're even required to play as Frank Hardy making this the first Nancy Drew game where you don't play as only Nancy.
  • The cursor designs changed for this first time in this game. Nancy's writing in her journal and task list is also a different style.
  • The end of the teaser trailer for Danger by Design featured the first logo for the next game. It had three white silhouettes of fashion models and the title of the game. This teaser logo would end up becoming the official game startup image.
  • The doll named Naughty Tina returns as an Easter egg in Legend of the Crystal Skull.
  • Since this game released in 2005, it bore the golden 75th Anniversary of Nancy Drew seal on its cover.
  • The front cover of the box art has a banner that advertises the first game with the Hardy Boys as physical characters.
  • The system requirements for the game increased again for this game. More powerful specs were required to play the game.
  • This was the first game to have an online mini game based on one of the mini games in Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon.
  • This was the first game to start advertising the strategy guide on the back of the box.
  • The UI for this game was the final one to have teal borders on all sides of the screen. When Danger by Design released, they got rid of the top, left, and right borders. The dock on the bottom was all that remained.
  • This was the first game to have two install discs in the series. Secrets Can Kill had two discs, but you didn't need both of them to install the game. Instead, they were both required to play the game. For Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon, the second disc was only ever needed to install the game.
  • This was the final game to have Nancy read an opening letter to one of her friends or family until it was re-introduced in Midnight in Salem.
