April 23, 2024 // Official Notice of Allowance

The USPTO granted HeR Interactive allowance to use the trademark "The Case of the Missing Clue" as the title of a video game. With this being granted to HeR, they now have a maximum of 3 years to use this trademark which means they must publish a game with the title of "The Case of the Missing Clue" in order to keep the trademark and not lose it or lose access to it. This means that the latest a new Nancy Drew game could be released by HeR Interactive would be April 23rd, 2027.

February 27, 2024 // Trademark Published for Opposition

The trademark "The Case of the Missing Clue" was put up for opposition on February 27th, 2024. This is a period where another party may oppose HeR Interactive using this trademark in the category of "Downloadable video and computer game programs". Should no one oppose the use of this trademark within a 30 day period, HeR will be granted the trademark and have 6 months to "use" it. In order to legally "use" the trademark, they need to release a new product/game with the trademark as the title. If HeR isn't able to use the trademark within the allotted time span of 6 months, they are able to request up to five 6-month extensions which would allow them a grand total of 3 years to officially "use" the trademark.

December 23, 2023 // Trademark Assigned to Examiner

According to the USPTO website, this trademark was assigned an examiner on December 23, 2023. This examiner will be the deciding factor as to whether or not this trademark will be able to be put up for opposition which is the next step in the trademarking process. Documentation from the examiner should be released after 2 weeks from the assigning date.

Two days before HeR Interactive began majorly marketing Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys, they filed for a new trademark for something called "The Case of the Missing Clue". The trademark serial number is 97865950.
