Fun Facts:
- There is an aviation poster in Emily’s store that is an homage to Mildred Benson, the original ghost writer for the Nancy Drew games. She used to have her pilot’s license and be an avid flyer. She passed away just weeks before Secret of the Scarlet Hand released, so they gave her a little ‘In memory of’ shout out in Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake.
- This is the first game to have its own teaser trailer (the one seen at the end of SSH).
- The voice actress for Eustacia Andropov, Alena Saunders, was never given credit for reprising her role in this game. She was also a phone friend in The Final Scene.
- Red Knott is introduced in this game. He comes back later in a mini game in Mobile Mysteries: Shadow Ranch.
- This was the last game where HeR Interactive used the second variation of their logo.
- The ghost dogs don’t appear on the first night unless you try to go to sleep. You can wander around the forests as long as you want before that. After the first night, they won’t appear until you find them.
- A fan of the game created the Malone House out of LEGO and put it on a website called LEGO Ideas, a site where LEGO fans can upload creations in hopes of getting it adapted into a real set. It was promoted by HeR Interactive, but it never met the deadlines set by LEGO.
- Emily sells movies at Em's Emporium that are featured in The Final Scene.
- When developing this game, past HeR employee Robert Riedl suggested a feature where players could play hide-and-go-seek in the forest. The idea was scrapped due to limitations in technology, time, and funds.

Others may be creeped out by the darkness, but Red, an avid bird watcher, sleeps during the day so he can make bird calls at night. Fascinated by unsolved mysteries, this strange suspect may be after the fame of unearthing a mobster’s treasure.
