Game Specs

System Requirements:
  • DVD player (US region 1 only)

Fun Facts:
  • This is the only game that can run on a DVD player.
  • This game released in 2 different box styles: a larger, square-shaped box, and a DVD case with a slipcase. The larger version also came with a copy of The Haunted Carousel with a special red disc. It was included as a teaser implying that it would be the next game ported to DVD.
  • This was the first Nancy Drew game that was 2 player.
  • Instead of a regular point-and-click game where you would click on anywhere you'd like to go, this game had short, gliding animations between scenes. In other words, when you would move forward or turn a corner, a short animation of Nancy walking would play instead of instantly arriving at the next spot. This style of navigation was used again in Midnight in Salem, although it was sped up and real-time instead of a pre-rendered animation.
  • The UI for this game was heavily simplified making the game experience not as complex as the PC version.
  • This game uses a chapter system just like Message in a Haunted Mansion for the GBA. Whenever you would complete a chapter, it would give you a password to load the new chapter of the game should you want to quit.
  • There are 11 chapters in this game. It is unknown if that was intended because this is the 11th game in the PC series, or if that was just how the game was ported.
  • Many of the puzzles were simplified or their gameplay completely scrapped for the DVD version.
  • There are very few moments for dialogue selection while in conversation with characters. A lot of the dialogue was cut from the game as well.
