Hello fellow sleuths! Long time, no blog post! I've been very busy this year, and so has HeR Interactive. For those that may not have been following along, HeR Interactive's digital storefront called Digital River has been... causing some nasty issues for HeR Interactive. Since July, Digital River hasn't paid their customers for any orders made on their platform. This meant that HeR Interactive lost a LOT of money from any orders from their website, including all physical pre-orders for Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys. It's still unclear as to whether or not HeR can recoup the lost funds. I made a video discussing everything here: Today, December 6th, 2024, HeR Interactive officially launched their brand-new storefront with a company called FastSpring. Originally, HeR had stated that they were transitioning to Digital River's MyCommerce platform. However, they seemed to have decided against that to move to a completely new platform. This platform is directly integrated into the HeR Interactive website rather than being a separate platform like Digital River. In my opinion, this new storefront looks and feels so much better than what Digital River had to offer. One of my favorite new features is that you can choose which currency you want to purchase your games in. As I live in Canada, I can choose to checkout in Canadian dollars rather than US dollars. As of right now, I'm unsure about whether or not you can redownload your purchases at any time instead of the 30 days that Digital River had to offer. HeR Interactive's new store FAQ page doesn't seem to answer that question, either. I'm really hoping that the new store will offer this feature. HeR did allow users to re-download any purchase from the last 5 years before the final transition was put in place, and now you can no longer access your Digital River account. At least, not from the HeR Interactive website. If you follow this link, you can still access your account until HeR officially shuts down the Digital River store. I'm not sure when that will happen either, but I'll keep everyone updated as soon as that does happen.
Something I did recently was completely archive my purchases from the site as well as download many images and pages from HeR's Digital River store. I'm a data hoarder, so I always want to be able to reference older material like that in case that should be of use in the future. I am curious about how they're going to handle the physical stock they still have left. Apparently, they still have over 40 physical copies of Alibi in Ashes and just under 1800 physical copies left of Midnight in Salem. I know they also still have a few Nancy Drew books left, too. I assume the coming days, weeks, or months will tell us how HeR Interactive are plan to proceed. Anyways, I wanted to make a blog post in order to cover news as it's a bit faster for me to do this than to make a video these days. Let me know in the comments what y'all think of HeR's transition and what you think of the new storefront! That about does it for today's post. Until next time, detectives! Huw
